Ray Dingler and Thelma Manuel Dingler founded Solar Supply in 1954 with one location in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Under the leadership of Mr. Dingler and now his son Ronnie Dingler, Solar Supply has grown to over 65 locations in 6 states. Solar Supply is still headquartered in Lake Charles.
Ray Dingler was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing the game his entire life. After he passed away, Ronnie Dingler was looking for a way to memorialize his dad and the founder of Solar Supply. As a McNeese State graduate and also an avid golfer, Ronnie Dingler settled on a memorial golf tournament in his father’s name that would benefit the McNeese State golf teams.
In May of 1993, the Ray Dingler Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament was founded, with Ronnie Dingler as the Chairman. With the help of Quitman Moon and many others, the first and subsequent 30 more tournaments have been huge successes.
As of this year’s tournament, the Dingler Memorial Tournament is the longest running charitable golf event in Lake Charles. Tournament Director Quitman Moon added “Under the direction of Mr. Dingler, the Memorial Tournament has been and will continue to be a success. We plan on having this tournament for years to come”.
